Beautiful Brambles

When I was out on my walk yesterday I found a few brambles - I thought they would be finished by now but these look quite healthy. I didn't pick them as I had nothing to carry them in. So I just took the picture instead. 
I don't know if you remember when we picked loads of brambles a few weeks ago. Well, I rinsed them in clear water and then in salt water (as I heard that encourages wee beasties that may be hiding in there to come out), and then in cold water again. Well, the next day I looked in the bowl and it had mould in it - yukk. So  I threw the lot out. So no jam for us  :(  Maybe next time...

Hi Ellie, It is to bad that the berries moulded before you had a chance to turn them into jam. At least they make a pretty picture.

That's a beautiful photo. I never knew exactly what brambles were when I read about them. I always thought they were thorns! We call them blackberries...I learned something new today. :-))

ellie.....when working with any berry, you have to use them as soon as you wash them. i think you could have saved them, unwashed, until you were ready to use them and you would have been fine.

that's always been my experience. nice picture, crisp and clear!!

Are brambles the same thing as the Blackberries we have here? The look very similar. Our season is mid summer and my kids could spend all day picking and eating them. Great tip on getting rid of the beasties:-)
