Sunday Evening

I added this photo from Pitlochry today because I haven't managed to take any pictures all weekend - shame on me!!! I love the reflections of all the colours in the water. I really love the colours of autumn.

Had a busy day today, this morning Dan and myself went out shopping and bought our new bathroom suite - as you do! Is being delivered on 10th August. Can't wait for it to go in. Just not relishing the time before that. Groan.

If you read my post about going to Hobbycraft and getting lost, well, this afternoon Dan, Karen and I managed to get there. Dan was driving - say no more. Karen was well pleased to get there and spent a fortune on her cake making equipment.  Next time I will manage to drive by myself. Honest I will. Lol.

Laura, our oldest daughter left on saturday - is going to London for a few days and we are expecting her back next weekend.  My youngest daughter, Emma, came back early from her holiday in Makrihanish. Sometimes this house feels a bit like a hotel…

Friday post

I thought I would post a few wild flower pictures I have taken recently.
Today, is the last day of my holiday boo hoo. I could get used to this life (I wish) lol.  Eldest daughter Laura asked if I wanted to go to Glasgow with her today. I jumped at the chance, it's not often we get to go out just the two of us.  We got the train in.  She wanted to look for some clothes as she is going to London on monday for a few days.
Why is it when you are looking for something - you can't see anything you like, and when you aren't looking the shops are full of lovely things. That was Laura's problem today. Poor thing.
We were wandering around for about 4 hours - no wonder I'm tired tonight.
Danny is going to be installing a new bathroom in a few weeks so tomorrow we are going to have a look at what we can get.
At the moment he is re-plastering the hall in preparation for painting it.  House is in total upheaval. Can't wait till he finished so I can clean up properly.

A sign of the times!

This is (or rather was) a local hotel in our town. It has been here longer than I have lived here. My mum, dad and 2 sisters moved here in 1970 (I was only 8) and I remember it even then.  Over the years, it has hosted several events for us, birthday parties, weddings and  a funeral. Well it is now being demolished as the owners have moved on.  What is going in its place?  Yup you guessed it - flats (apartments)  - probably quite expensive flats. Just what our wee town doesn't need. I was out today taking these pictures, and feeling quite self conscious about it, and there were  at least 4 other people taking pictures  at the same time. How ironic is that. There must be more than me that thinks this is a little bit of a sad occasion. Oh well, I suppose nothing stay the same for ever. I'll try and remember to take pictures of the new buildings when they are up.

You may notice from the grey sky that our lovely spell of weather has left us for now. Is is now grey and drizzly.…

What A Day!!

What a day I have had!!  Karen took the day off work and we were going to go to a shop called Hobbycraft. Name speaks for itself really.  Karen is quite artistic and likes to do all sorts of crafts - just like her mum really, only better at it. Lol.

Anyway, I've never driven there before and it's on the other side of Glasgow. I should have taken the SATNAV but hindsight is a wonderful thing.  The upshot of the whole thing was - I got lost. Well and truly.  We had to phone hubby at work for directions how to come back the way.  We managed but decided to give hobbycraft a miss. Much to Karen's disappointment (and mine).

To save coming home straight away we went to Dobbies - a garden centre.  And we bought some goodies.

Our selection of plants.

This little one is called a Cosmos chocolate - and really does smell like chocolate.  Karen fell in love with it and had to have it. Lol.

This is not a great picture of a Petunia Phantom

Really not sure what these are,  but we loved t…

Just passing the time.

Another glorious day here - I need to enjoy it while I can.  Back to work on monday :(  I have enjoyed my annual leave, I haven't done a great deal but it's been good.

This morning I did another couple hours work in the garden - weeding and cutting the grass. Very warm work. I'm quite pleased with what I have managed to do though.

After lunch I decided to do some practice shots on my camera.  Now, be patient with me, I'm only learning.

I quite like this shot but a bit blown out maybe?

Anyway, just playing. But they do say practice makes perfect. Don't they? Any constructive ciriticism very welcome.

Clover in the garden

It was such a lovely day here yesterday. So I did what lots of other Scots people do on a nice day - sat in the garden and caught a few rays (just a few though). We have had such cold rainy weather this summer, I know there are places in the States where they are suffering from drought and extremely high temps, but it's nice to see the sun sometimes. If only there was a happy medium somewhere!

Anyway, while sitting out in said sun I was once again playing with my camera. Found this little clover flower and decided to take a shot or 2.

I thinks it is such a pretty wee flower, especially looking down into the centre of it.

Early Sunday morning

Up early this morning - taking Karen to work - at 6.30. It's a lovely morning, sun shining, blue sky.  So I
thought I'd take my wee trusted point and shoot camera to see what  I could see. I love being out early when nobody else is around, especially when it is such a beautiful morning. So peaceful and quiet!

Trees misshapen by years of wind blowing from the sea.

Just playing with my camera and having fun!

My garden is a real mess, weeds, grass needs cut, you name it.  So I was out for a couple of hours weeding, looking a bit better, but still a lot of work to be done. For another day I think!!

Sun going down over Arran

I've really enjoyed today, well apart from waving my youngest as she goes away to Machrihanish for a fortnight with her friend and family.  I'll miss my girl!!

This morning I went with my friend for coffee and a blether.  It was really good to catch up and a very pleasant way to spend a morning.  After that I went to visit my mum and dad, I see them quite regularly lol, but it's always nice to visit. So not a lot done but very enjoyable. The joys of being on holiday.

Over the last few days I have been looking a lots of blogs and I have to say there are some excellent photographers out there. The pictures are wonderful. Such talent!  So I've decided I want to get better at photography.  Watch this space. Lol.

I took these sunsets last September and  I rather like them. The island the sun is setting behind is Arran. Hope you like them.

You can't quite beat a beautiful sunset can you?

My adventures at Stobo

Here are my pictures of my stay at Stobo Castle in Peebles.

Well, we had a great time.  My sister, Sheena, picked me up at 11.00 on Sunday morning. She offered to drive - which suited me. Lol.  We had an uneventful journey which took around 2 hours. The weather forecast was for thunder, lightning and heavy rain (yuk). We did drive through some heavy rain but not for long so that was good. In fact the weather was great the whole time we were away which is always a bonus.  Anyway we got there an hour before we could book in so we decided to go for a walk around the gardens.

This is the side view of the castle.
Behind the glass window is the swimming pool. We loved it in there. You could lie on the loungers and look out over the fields and hills. I nearly fell asleep a couple of times - so relaxing!!
This is the other side of castle. Something I found out was that Madonna got married here.

We  arrived at the desk at checkin to discover we had been upgraded. The room was lovely, very luxu…

I'm Back and more pictures!!

Well I'm back.  Stobo was great, very relaxing and luxurious - and I can't wait to go back. (I'll need to start saving). Lol. I've loaded my pictures onto computer but not sorted them yet. I'll put them up soon and tell you all about it.

Before I do that I thought I'd show some pictures of  Pitlochry. It is about 3 hours away from where we live and Dan and I were there around 3 years ago for our 20th anniversary.  I LOVE Pitlochry especially in the Autumn, the colours are wonderful.

These are just a few of my pictures, Pitlochry is definately worth a visit if you are in the
area. I don't think my pictures do it justice.

My special treat and some pictures

I'm on annual leave for the next 2 weeks. Yipeee!! And  tomorrow I'm off to Stobo Castle in Peebles for a special pampering treat.  I turn the big 50 next month (aargh)  so I am treating myself. Indulgent or what!  Not having done anything like this before, I am really looking forward to it. Going with my younger sister so should have some quality time with her as well. I can't wait. We are leaving around 10am on Sunday and coming back monday afternoon sometime.

I must take my camera with me and take some shots to show you all.

I thought I would post some shots I took at a place called Blooms Gardens in Norfolk. We were there this time last year for a family reunion with my husbands family. It was a great weekend and the weather was fabulous. I hope you like them!

Well, I will let you all know how I got on at Stobo. Hopefully I will come home very relaxed.

Have a nice weekend!!

Pictures from last summer.

I thought I would put some pictures of our holiday from last year to Arran. We had a great time.
It was only a short journey by ferry over the water but it was lovely.
I had fun with my camera - not great pictures - but I like them. I hope you enjoy!!!
