Our Night Out

I've posted some pictures for you to see, I'm sorry they are not very good but it gives you a taster of our night out. I took them on my Canon Powershot

The  Alan Frew Band

Jimmy Wolf

Martin Taylor

Dan and I had a rare night out last night. Our town now has a sort of mini music festival once a year. It started up last year and we didn't go to any of it. This year I decided we would go and show our support. It's right on our doorstop so why not.
And I tell you I'm so glad we did.

Saturday night was the opening night so I booked a couple of tickets for it. I wasn't really expecting too much but thought it would be an enjoyable night. Dan doesn't normally get in from work until about 7pm but managed to get away a bit earlier and was home by 6pm. So we rushed up the road, he had a bite to eat and I deposited Emma in town where she was meeting up with some friends. I got back home got changed and we were ready to go out by 6.45pm. Not bad eh!!

The event was held in our town hall and was due to start at 7.30pm. Most of the acts are local talent and the first act up was Sean Kennedy – a local singer, songwriter and guitarist. He had a really lovely voice and went down well. It can't be easy being the first act up and we were suitably impressed. Next was an Ayrshire group called the Alan Frew Band which consisted of Alan Frew and two girls. All playing guitar and singing, again very good. But the next group up were my favourite of the night, Jimmy Wolfe is a group of Ayrshire men who form this group. It was great – Bluegrass music, real foot tapping stuff. Instruments included harmonica, violin, washboard, guitar, double base. It was really loud and infectious. I loved it – as did all of the audience. I would definitely go and see them again. I could have listened to them for a lot longer. They were followed by the main act of the night Martin Taylor a solo jazz guitarist – now that man can play the guitar. The whole audience was spellbound by his playing.
It was wonderful stuff.

We went home at around 11pm having had a wonderful nights entertainment. Can't wait for next year now. We will definitely be back!!
