Champagne Tea

After our donner (walk) around Edinburgh it was time to head back to the hotel for our champagne tea - how the other half live eh!!!

We got back to our room - which was VERY nice indeed - and freshened up and got changed into more suitable clothes and headed down to the lounge.

It was very quiet which was lovely, only a couple of other people there.
A lovely girl served us our champagne - I don't normally like champagne but this was very nice, The trouble is I'm not a big drinker and we hadn't had much to eat all day - all I can say is thank goodness it was just one glass each.
Next came our tea - sandwiches, scones and cakes - yummy!!!
There was also as much tea and coffee as we wanted.  It was very pleasant and a lovely wind down after our walk.

We tried several times to get a half decent picture of ourselves and I'm afraid this was the best we could manage. It's a bit blurry - but I'll blame the champagne lol.

A couple of pictures of the lounge - those seats were extremely comfortable.

This was the view from our bedroom window - look at all of those chimneys.
In fact that scene from Mary Poppins quite often popped into my head.
You know the one where the chimney sweeps are doing their dance on the rooftop singing Chim Chiminey (at least I think that was what the song  was called).

The name of the hotel was The Carlton - so if you ever visit Edinburgh I'd recommend it.  The staff were all very friendly and helpful and it was very comfortable and relaxing.
We will definately go back the next time we visit the city.

Well, champagne Ellie! You certainly had a lovely time. The tea looked scrumtious and how lovely not to have done the cooking oneself!
I liked the chimney shot with the soaring birds and the great one of you and your husband looking very comfortable and happy!
Have a lovely week!

I am so glad you went for the champagne, one is good for you, and what a beautiful setting. Thank you so much for sharing your time away. For a California girl it is very entertaining. That tray of sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea would be the topper for me. You have such a happy smile on your face, and the photo is just fine. I do the exact same thing, it is never right when you try to pose.
