Roses With A Difference

Last night Karen was making an anniversary cake for one of her colleagues. She was making roses for the top of the cake and she asked me if I would give her a hand.
I thought 'how hard can it be?'.
Hah  that should read very hard!!!!!

I just could not for the life of me do it.  I had at least 6 attempts and not one of them was any good.
Karen, however, managed to make 13 of them and every one a winner.
It just proved to me that she has a real talent and once again I am very impressed with her skills.
Here is her finished cake - please excuse the rotten picture quality. My excuse - it was very late at night :))

She has another cake to make for tomorrow - this one is a birthday cake for a girl.
The theme - a boxing ring.
Just a wee bit different if you ask me.

OH it's so great to be back and read all your going's on! I'm back to the blogging world now that I've got a new computer! Missed you like crazy and can't wait to catch up.

I love playing with cake decorating but am a real novice...nothing I do looks as professional as Karen's! Those are some beautiful roses!

Hugs~

This is a really pretty cake. I think that Karen is really talented too. I know I could never make those roses.

What beautiful red roses on the anniversary cake! Is Karen going to be a professional baker? She seems to love it very much.

I would have been "all thumbs" too. Your daughter does beautiful work - I'm sure you could make the roses with enough practice!

A much classier looking cake than the one I baked for my birthday. Karen does indeed have quite a talent.

Isn't it funny....to watch someone talented do something, it looks so easy. Then we try it and discover just the opposite.
