Our Holiday - part 1 (at last)

Well here it is, my first post on our long awaited holidy for anybody that might be interested!!
I will probably do a few posts as we saw such  lot and it will be a record for myself to keep.

I hope I don't bore everyone to much!! :)

We had to be at Glasgow Airport at 6am for our 9 o'clock flight, this meant a very early start of 4am (yikes that's the middle of the night in my  book).  We made it and we were sitting around for quite a while so I went to duty free and bought myself a new bottle of my favourite perfume (Clinique's Happy, I love that perfume).
We were finally called for boarding and were soon on our way to the United States.  It was a great flight and I can totally recommend United Airlines.
We even landed about half an hour early :))

We got  train to Penn Station and walked the 20 blocks or so to our hotel, oohing and aahing as we walked.

I'm not a busy town type of girl and I wasn't that sure I would really like NY too much but boy I LOVED it.  All of that hustle and bustle, the  tall buildings and wonderful Central Park.

It was all just wonderful :))

Anyway I've got lots of pictures so I'll put some of them up.

I seemed to be looking up all the time
I love all the reflections in the buildings - great weather is always a benefit.

Central Park

I wondered what all of these people were painting

It was this beautiful tree!!

Outside the Rockefella Centre in the evening.

The Empire State Building - awesome views from here.
We even went up to the 102nd floor :))

It looked like there was a restaurant on the top of this building.

The view from the 102nd floor.

Sunset from the Rockefeller Center

Empire State Building

Flat Iron Building

We visited the Natural History Museum where we saw lots of these:

New York Library

where the original Winnie The Pooh and friends are kept - how cute are they? :))

There was so much we didn't get time to do and our two days in New York passed way too quickly and it was time to go and catch our Amtrak train to Boston!!!

to be continued :))

I love New York and would love to go again. We are being tempted by Great Railway's holiday across the States but it is soooo expensive.
What a wonderful way to start a holiday. Great photo's. I hope you weren't carrying your bags the 20 blocks to your hotel?
Looking forward to the next chapter in your holiday saga.

Well I am totally excited to see your photos of NYC! It is a pretty amazing place isn't it. My first time there was for my 50th birthday, and have been there 2 more times since. Being from Chicago... have to say I am partial to that city. You got some great shots, and cannot believe that you WALKED 20 blocks to the hotel .... with your luggage????? You must be a much better packer than I am for sure. Isn't central park just an amazing place. Hope you did a red bus tour as some of the stuff you learn is just amazing. did you get to see the world trade center and the memorials. That is pretty incredible, and brought tears to my eyes... in fact just writing that does the same. So excited that you got to spend some time in NYC, and love your photos. Will look forward to Boston. I lived near there for 3 years a long time ago when I was much younger. Glad to see that you at least got to see some colorful tress in central park I was really afraid that you had totally missed the trees. So glad to see you back, and keep up the posts! Hugs from Texas!

Ellie,

Although I seldom comment on blogs, I want you to know I enjoy reading yours and have missed reading it, but I'm so glad you had a wonderful vacation (holiday).

Since you didn't mention it, I wondered if you knew that you had two pictures of the new World Trade Center, pictures 13 & 16 (counting from the top). With the spire, it's the tallest building in the world.

Tigger has always been my favorite of the Winnie the Pooh characters and I'm wondering if he bounced around on his tail when you saw him. By the way, when I was in the 4th grade (9 years old), my teacher read the stories to us. I'm 75 now, but I remember that as one of life's best experiences.

Looking forward to your next chapter.
